What is the Erasmus Student Network ESN?
The Erasmus Student Network (ESN) is one of the biggest interdisciplinary student associations in Europe. ESN has a presence at over 1000 universities in 42 countries and supports more than 350,000 international students every year.
At a local level, the individual ESN sections at each university help international students to settle into their new environment. In order to do this, ESN sections organise various events such as trips to other cities, buddy programmes and parties. This not only aids the integration of international students, but also offers local students the opportunity to gain both international experience and the motivation to spend time abroad themselves.
There are currently 40 sections active in Germany. ESN Deutschland e.V. oversees the cooperation between these sections, organises regular meetings to share experience and generally assists with problems.
At an international level, an ESN committee in Brussels represents the interests and rights of international students within the European Union. There are regular national and international meetings in order to share experience and develop the network.
